Experience Summary

I have 3 1/2 years teaching experience. My responsibilities include: planning and preparing all weekly lessons in for all core subjects, I supervise and teach children all core subjects, grade students’ assignments, keep grading book and student records on a daily basis, prepare students progress reports, plan all classroom activities, and keep parents informed of student’s progress by scheduling parent-teacher conferences and conducting general meetings. Special Education Teacher: I was mainly responsible of providing instruction in resource English, Math, and Reading to students in the Special Education Program. Prepared lesson plans and provided appropriate instructional and teaching strategies, activities, and materials that followed the guidelines established by each student’s IEP (Individual Education Plan). I worked cooperatively with classroom teachers to modify regular curriculum according to each student’s learning ability. Managed student’s behavior and administered appropriate Special Ed. discipline strategies. I assessed student achievement through formal / informal testing and implemented the “Touch Phonics” program. I maintained classroom displays, bulletin boards and decorations. Also, compiled, maintained, and filed reports, records, and other school documentation. Computer Lab Aide and Special Education Aide: My main responsibility was to help resource students successfully use the ELLIS, LEXIA - Reading SOS, and Fast Forward programs in the computer lab. I taught the 6th, 7th, and 8th grade resource students to logon to the computers and assisted them with any software and hardware problems. Made sure computer lab was functional and ready before class. Reported any computer problems to campus technician and made sure computers problems were fixed. I assisted teachers in the preparation of instructional materials and classroom displays. I helped in the preparation/management of classroom activities and helped teacher keep administrative records. Kept teacher informed of special needs or problems of individual students. I provided class inclusion to individual students or small groups for Science and Social Studies. I helped supervise students throughout the school day, inside and outside the classroom, including substituting for teachers. I perform other duties such as making photocopies, laminating, and setting up bulletin boards. Computer Training Specialist: My main responsibility was to prepare and deliver computer technology training to all the university community including faculty, staff, administrators, and students as needed. Prepared and delivered trainings on various commercially available software packages and hardware installations and usage. Planned, scheduled, and developed course work (training materials, handouts, manuals, and other visual materials) for all training sessions. I also provided telephone customer support as needed on software packages and hardware problems. I collaborated with the Office of Human Resources to determine the university’s technology training needs and to develop specialized training sessions for different departments.
