Experience Summary
I have Masters degree in Reading and Literacy and I am a certified Reading Specialist. I currently teach preschool students who are deaf and hard of hearing at a school where I have cultivated a reputation for leadership and innovation. In addition to my preschool group, I also work one-on-one with a kindergarten and a first grade student incorporating the five areas of reading instruction (i.e. vocabulary. fluency, phonics, phonemic awareness, and comprehension).
Teaching Style
I am continuously responding to the individual needs of my students by differentiating instruction, a strategy I believe is key to all successful teachers. My approach to lesson planning includes individualized targets, tiered group activities, and individual behavior plans, and I regularly assess my students through observation, anecdotal notes and daily charting to ensure they are able to make meaningful progress throughout the year. Most importantly, my goal is to make reading fun by providing a rich learning experience.
My Hobbies
I love reading a good book, spending time with my husband and our dog, and camping in the summer!
Other Comments
I decided to pursue reading and literacy, because of the powerful impact it has on life-long learning. I myself have a passion for reading and I want to instill the same in my students.
