To whom it may concern:
It is with great enthusiasm that I submit my resume in consideration for a position or establishing a new program as an American Sign Language (ASL) Teacher with the school district. I have a Masters of Arts Degree in teaching ASL as a L2 in the only graduate program that certifies teachers in this specific degree from one of the most prestigious academia university in the world, Columbia University at Teachers College, and have earned Sign Language Proficiency Interview Certification that indicates superior. As a highly compassionate and approachable teaching professional, with over 4 years of teaching experience, I am confident in my ability to become a valuable asset member of your teaching staff.
The enclosed resume will highlight my career achievements and demonstrate my continued endeavors in education. My experiences in ASL are due to a combination of my native exposure to Deaf culture, language and its communities. While growing up with both my parents who are Deaf and mute, I have the natural act of being a versatile educator; I have taken the opportunity to instruct a wide variety of students from a very diversified multi-cultural backgrounds. As a result, my love for ASL and its enrich Deaf culture has molded me to become this enthusiastic and compassionate teacher, who remains to care and uplift the communities within the social norms of students to achieve a higher academic success rate.
One of the most effective ways that I assist ASL students is implementing a voice-off classroom environment, developing and presenting comprehensible and stimulating lesson plan that facilitate all learning styles. My education and experiences that I’ve gained have taught me to become more accessible to students with learning disabilities such as, audio, visual and tactile teaching methods that would increase student’s achievement rate within the ASL classroom. In addition, I integrate ASL lesson plans and technology to ensure that each child is able to comprehend and retain the concepts and language. My goal is to foster and maintain an open, honest, communicative, and supportive classroom, in which each student feels safe, secure, special, and appropriately challenged.
I would enjoy the opportunity to meet with you personally in order to discuss how my diverse skills and experience have molded my unique attributes that will enable me to make a valuable asset to school district. Thank you for your time and consideration.
Yours kindest,
Alberto Sosa
