Experience Summary
As a recent graduate of The Art Institute of Philadelphia, I believe the education I have received has more than adequately prepared me for this open position. I have gained valuable experience through my time at the Art Institute and the freelance work I have done since graduation. I have mostly worked on magazine layouts promotional materials, and cover art for various music artists. These projects differ greatly from one another and they have taught me a number of skills that will be transferable to any future jobs I hold. They have taught me how to successfully communicate a message through my artwork as well as meeting deadlines. Freelance work has also taught me how to manage my time as well as more than one project at a time.
These opportunities have given me the chance to learn from my mistakes so that they will not be made again, furthering my knowledge as to what is considered good design. I have gained experience with utilizing text and layout to create unique designs from my work with two very different magazines. The first is P.F.I Magazine a fashion/art entrepreneur publication. The second was called Crushing The Game Magazine a hip hop publication. Even though the type of projects was similar, working with a fashion magazine versus a hip hop culture magazine required extremely different approaches.
