About Me

Experience Summary

Non-traditional Mathematics Instructor/Tutor for over 20 years! I started teaching Algebra I and II, Geometry I and II, at Fordham University Upward Bound Program to high school students. There was a need for an additional Algebra I teacher, because of the large influx of unexpected enrollment. My high school mathematics Instructor recommended me to teach the class, because I was to be her teaching assistant. I was a dual major Biology/Mathematics at Syracuse University. Personal concerns prevented me from pursing a traditional education,so I used my life experiences for Mathematics Instructor positions. I went back to school in 2003 and started The Math Train, a private tutorial service. The audience I targeted initially were students in the surrounding area colleges: Atlanta Metropolitan College, Atlanta Technical College, and Georgia State University. The students with children also asked for my services! I have taught Mathematics, in the inner city schools with Hands On Atlanta AmeriCorps at Price Middle School. I am presently teaching at Academic Excellence In Mathematics, Marietta, GA.

Teaching Style

I use the Inquiry Method to teach/tutor my students. My method also includes use of the internet and online sessions, in Real Time. My students log into my virtual classroom. I may upload materials, classwork, or personal assignments to reinforce the concept. I accept long term assignments, with the minimum of 8 weeks, at least twice a week - days to be determined, because mathematics is a foundation process not just an answer! I prepare my students for a "Feel Good Experience" with Mathematics! *A printer, scanner, and copier, All In One is recommended and inexpensive, to gain maximum proficiency!
