Experience Summary
I received my degree in English from an excellent college in the Midwest. While there, I worked as a writing tutor for 3 years and was highly praised for my ability to help improve students' writing skills. While working as a writing tutor I underwent regular training. I also have a strong knowledge of APA/MLA style and can assist students in properly formatting their work according to APA/MLA standards.
Teaching Style
I'm friendly and cheerful and like to have discussions with my students about their papers and their other interests. Typically, I'll read over papers, asking questions as I go and making comments as I go along. I do like to mark on papers so that changes can be more easily made. I generally try to think of new and creative ways to explain grammatical concepts and general writing concepts if I'm not being clear. Basically, my tutoring sessions involve a lot of conversation. I do also offer strictly online editing; in that case, I will use Word and create a document with comments. I also use the Track Changes feature so that my clients can see the kinds of changes I've made; I'll add comments explaining why I made those changes.
My Hobbies
I write often in my spare time, and also make jewelry, play with paints, and read extensively.
