Experience Summary
Throughout college, I have had the opportunity to tutor a multitude of students with different needs. Along with my Bachelor's degree in Spanish Language Studies, I have obtained an education concentration as well. I have learned various teaching methods and the importance of focusing on the individual needs of the student. Aside from my abilities in education, my experience in the Spanish language has proven to be vital in our always developing country. In college our focus on the traditional Spanish language has trained me to speak, read and write both properly and efficiently. My experiences tutoring children who have needed assistance with their reading and writing skills, as well as speech in both the Spanish and English language, has allowed me to grow as a tutor. I have tutored through the education program of Ramapo College in Paterson, New Jersey. The subjects I had tutored at this particular location consisted of Spanish, mathematics, English and some U.S. History. Currently, I am tutoring for students who are learning English as a second language in Morristown, New Jersey. The ages of the students vary, as well as their areas of focus. The two high school students I have been tutoring focus more on their writing skills and ability to communicate in the English language successfully. A younger girl I am also tutoring struggles with reading and writing. I have helped her improve her abilities in the English language while providing an optimistic and dedicated work environment. It has all been a positive experience in which I hope to bring to others.
Teaching Style
I believe that each individual should focus on their particular needs. It helps to see what the student truly struggles with, so I can assist them in these areas the most. I also feel a variety of teaching methods both engage the person as well as make learning another language a fun experience. Structure within the lessons also makes the final outcome more obtainable for the learner!
