Experience Summary
Many factors have combined in today’s society to make it difficult for some people to thrive in our traditional school systems. Increasing class sizes, parents’ or students' busy work schedules and technological distractions have created an environment in which students can easily fall behind. I am a qualified, dedicated personal tutor which can assist in achieving good academic standing, lessening frustration with the learning process, and developing the study skills which will be useful throughout life. I gain great satisfaction in providing that assistance, while making learning enjoyable and rewarding for everyone involved.
The English language is my specialty, in particular teaching English as a foreign language, enhanced by my extensive knowledge of English and American literature. I also am fluent in French and Italian, and have taught and tutored in all three languages from beginner to upper intermediate in the US, Italy, Croatia and Mexico. In addition, I have experience tutoring in history, social sciences and mathematics. My students have differed in ability level, and have included children, teenagers, and adults.
Learning something new should be fun! I love teaching, and I want to share my enthusiasm with you. No matter what your level is, feeling confident in your knowledge and ability is the most important thing, and after studying with me, you will know it and you will be able to do it!
Teaching Style
My teaching method includes:
• lessons tailored to individual ability and temperament, drawing on a personal library of resources
• games to promote memorization
• laptop presentations to assist in learning grammar, vocabulary, places and dates, and to promote interaction
