Experience Summary
Being a residential intensive case manager was the most accomplished life-changing job experience that I have done at Salisbury Behavioral Health, Inc.’s Deaf Services Center based in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. This experience enriched my knowledge of the deaf individuals with mental illness and their highly demanding environment. As an Intensive Case Manager, I worked with individuals who possess a wide variety of behavioral health disorders and mental illness, in addition to being Deaf and Deaf-Blind and communicate with individuals through American Sign Language. Being an intensive case manager has its advantage. In the last six months,
For past two years, I taught Child Nutrition, Health, and Safety course at Gallaudet University under the Department of Family and Child Studies. This experience awakened my knowledge and understanding of how the minds of adult learners function and how I, as an adult educator, could provide both effective learning experiences and instruction. My goal was to promote students to develop higher-level thinking in relation to the course topics. Prior to teaching at the university, I worked as a tutor at a community college. I taught students American Sign Language for a year and half.
I am confident that my education degrees, along with my years of experience in working with children and adults make me an excellent candidate to tutor.
Teaching Style
Teaching style, I believe, should be interactive and effective. The purpose of teaching is to simulate learners' higher thinking skills (critical thinking skills).
