Experience Summary
I am a published freelancer (Complex Magazine, cinemablend.com, Weightwatchers.com, The Source, etc), and a middle school Language Arts teacher for the past 5 years. I also graduated Rutgers University with a BA in journalism, and I minored in English, so I cover a lot of bases. I can help you with both reading and writing. I have the experience to take you far.
Teaching Style
I prefer online tutoring, but in the classroom, I usually use project-based learning, which encompasses everything from reading to listening to creating until the subject is mastered. I like to use fun, learner-friendly examples to spark interest and imagination. Imagination is very important to me. It's built bridges and cities in the past. Imagination and application is king.
My Hobbies
Well, writing, of course, but I also enjoy reading novels and comic books, watching movies (I LOVE movies), playing video games when I have the time, exercise, and listening to music, specifically progressive rock of the late 60s and 70s (Think Genesis, King Crimson, Gentle Giant, etc).
Other Comments
I'm in my late 20s and have a good sense of what's going on today with young people since I'm constantly working with preteens. I work well with others and have a friendly personality. We'll talk.
