Experience Summary
I taught at four colleges for over 16 years. I'm currently teaching part time at one college for the last ten years. I taught ASL for over 25 years. I teach students and members in home-school; secondary private school; college level; and community. Other skills that I have are nursing assistant, dialysis technician, cosmetologist, cook, job coach for developmental disabled deaf clients, behavior modification, program manager, and restaurant assistant manager. I do public speaking about dogs for the deaf and about ASL. I'm a Jill of all trades.
Teaching Style
I teach then I repeat to review the signs by using sentences. I work in one on one and in groups. I'm patient and I look for ways to help the students remember the signs. I help them apply all aspects of the deaf culture in their rapport. I have experience working with students with disabilities.
My Hobbies
I enjoy my dog; cooking; arts & crafts; home improvement; and ASL.
Other Comments
I'm hard of hearing. I'm a Seattle native. I know ASL, PSE, and SEE. I can teach any of the three languages. I tutor students all the time.
