Experience Summary
I am a special education teacher with 26 years experience in all levels from pre-K through high school. I am fluent in Spanish, and serve as a translator for my school district. I have certification in Irlen screening, a method which greatly helps people who are dyslexic. I have taught ESL to adults,and translated all core subject areas for students, including science. I have a lot of experience tutoring students of all levels in Spanish, and have taught Spanish classes for my church. I am an inclusion high school teacher currently, and help all students in all subjects in their classrooms. I have a vast knowledge of skills to help all students succeed, particularly those with learning disabilities. I am knowledgeable in most subject areas at all grade levels.
Teaching Style
I am calm, and extremely patient. I have the ability to determine if a student learns best by hearing, seeing or doing. I can adapt all subjects to best meet the learning styles of each individual student. Individualizing lessons is an area of strength for me. I am experienced in most subjects.

I am also a certified Irlen screener. Many students who exhibit dyslexic traits have Irlen Syndrome, which can be helped with the use of an Irlen spectral filter. Quite often the dyslexic symptoms disappear. More information can be given upon request. I am certified to test for Irlen Syndrome, which would require a separate fee. I have a calm disposition and an enormous amount of patience. I am very skilled at determining the individual needs of a student and I am able to make a positive difference. |
