Experience Summary
I am an enthusiastic and committed professional that is passionate about improving the quality and development of children. I earned a bachelors degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders from Nazareth College, a pre-professional program in Speech Language Pathology. At the undergraduate level, I acquired an in-depth knowledge of child development, infancy through adolescence. My coursework consisted of the study of phonetics and psycholinguistics, normal speech and language development, speech, language and literacy disorders. Additionally, I gained essential knowledge and problem solving skills that prepared me to plan effective, evidence-based treatment working with diverse groups of children.
I currently have over five years of valuable private childcare experience caring for children ages preschool through seventh grade, in which I developed meaningful and positive relationships with. I assist with daily homework responsibilities as well as implement activities that stimulate growth in language, social, and motor skills. My experience also includes working with children who have speech-language and literacy disorders and delays. Specifically, my focus was assisting with phonological and morphological awareness for reading decoding and spelling. Most importantly, I offered positive support and encouragement necessary for gaining confidence in their ability to accomplish both academically and socially.
I have three summers of experience working at The Harley School located in Pittsford N.Y. My responsibilities consisted of supervising and leading enriched programming activities for preschool and school aged children. I provided support for children assisting with developmental areas such as social and self-help skills. I communicated daily with caregivers regarding activities, and developed positive rapport with youth and family members.
Furthermore, I have a strong commitment to enhancing and supporting the education of children. Both my educational background and childcare experience allows me the capability to deliver quality one on one service with children who have special learning needs and target developmentally appropriate outcomes in spoken and written language.
