I have always done very well in math, science and engineering disciplines. I won national and international awards in these areas throughout middle school and college. As a tutor, I am certified in the subjects listed on two major online tutor websites. As a professional engineer, I want to tutor because I love to share my knowledge and ways of learning with others. I have tutored around 40-50 students in total so far. I view my students' success as my success. I really enjoy helping and seeing them grow. My teaching style is very flexible. I would like to discuss with you and come up with a plan that is tailored to your needs and way of learning. I find that very effective as everybody needs different things and learns differently. In general, my philosophy is to stimulate students ' interest in the subjects and engage them. Studies show students learn best when they are interested and engaged.
As for my qualification as a Chinese language tutor, Chinese is my first language. I can speak, listen and write Chinese (Mandarin and Cantonese) very well. More importantly, I received formal academic training in Chinese for more than 20 years when I was in China. Chinese is a subject that is mandatory for any Chinese student. I have always done very well in it. Specifically, I have been doing very well in Chinese writing, Chinese literature and ancient Chinese translation. I have passion towards Chinese. It is my language and it is the culmination of our 5000 year history. I have tutored my American students to prepare them as English as Second Language teachers and their mission trips to China.

Teaching Style
My principles are
1. Engage the student as much as possible
2. Stimulate the student's interest on the subject
3. Make sure the student understands every step along the way by asking leading questions and having the student show his/her understanding.
4. Try not to give out answers directly and help the student find the solution instead.
5. Make the subject as fun as possible!

I like hanging out with my family and friends. I like sports and I like tutoring!! :)
