Experience Summary
Certified Editor, writer and proofreader; as well as NJ state certified in English for grades 6-12. Have worked for the last several years as an Editor for one of the largest textbook publishing companies in the country, Pearson Education. There I worked as an Editor and Content Writer for their Language Arts divisions, first in Higher Ed (College), and then moving on to their School Group Division. There I worked with authors, and created content for grammar, writing and Language Arts textbooks for grades 6-12, for nearly all US states. In addition, I have also worked as a private English tutor for all grade levels, as well as doing SAT tutoring for the essay and vocabulary sections.
Teaching Style
Working one on one, or in small group settings to maximize students writing abilities, reading and vocabulary comprehension - or in any other area of English. Overall goal: For students to develop a life long passion for reading and writing, as well as to develop their existing skills.
My Hobbies
Working as a part-time reporter for the North Jersey Media Group's town papers and the Bergen Record. Reading, blogging, and writing whenever I have the freedom to do so. Favorite thing: Escaping in a good book.
Other Comments
Reading and writing are my life long passions and I've had the privilege to turn both of those passions, into a sustainable career. My goal is to impart the importance of being great readers, and especially writers, to my students and how both of these skills will carry them through school and into adulthood.
