Experience Summary
My area of expertise is the English language and grammar. I took two year's worth of Advanced Placement English classes during high school and made either 4's or 5's on both exams. The score of 5 on my senior level exam allowed me to place out of Freshman English during college and jump right into Sophomore English. I just made an A in that Sophomore class. I also took Spanish for four years during high school, and have already taken a college level class with a final grade of A. I will be taking another class this coming semester, and after only three more Spanish classes I will have a minor in Spanish language. I practice my Spanish on a daily basis and have used my skills a countless number of times in the workplace. With regard to elementary education, I have a 12-year old sister that just started middle school. I used to help her with her homework and projects and helped her to receive good grades.
Teaching Style
I like to be presented with the material at hand and evaluate what the child/student knows before I dive in. After this initial assessment, I take more of an interactive approach. I constantly offer feedback and guide the student in reaching the correct answers without just giving them away. If the problem calls for drawings or manipulatives, I utilize these resources to the fullest.
My Hobbies
I enjoy making friendship bracelets and hope to start up my own little business within the coming semester. A part of the proceeds will be donated to the OASIS shelter of Boone. I do play the violin as well, and took seven years of Orchestra classes during middle and high school. I love to read a good mystery novel and go to see movies at the theater as well.
