Experience Summary
Have been tutoring for twenty years, and have also taught on a college level for ten. I have taught in a variety of contexts, such as one-on-one, kid's day camp, online and ongoing workshops. I once ran my own company with a specialty in tutoring diversity software students. I have an extremely high success rate, with virtually no students going away not meeting at least basic objectives. I have a B.A. in Art from San Francisco State University, and an M.F.A. in Design from UCLA, and have taught at UC Santa Cruz, UC Santa Barbara, San Francisco State University, Art Center College of Design and the Art Institute of Houston. Clients include: The Saybrook Institute, Fresno Pacific University, Bay Area Discovery Museum, The Bank of America and the San Francisco School District. I also have done volunteer work with CompuMentor, a San Francisco-based non-profit that matches non-profits with computer tutors.
Teaching Style
I am extremely patient and clear. In my mind, there is no such thing as someone who cannot learn; it is my job to adjust my teaching style for multiple learning styles. Because I also have experience working with special needs clients as well as clients in rehabilitation, I am especially capable of dealing with more challenging learning situations. I am also take a rather lighthearted approach, and try to make the process as fun, yet as precise as possible, with markers for different points in the learning process. Most have really enjoyed my teaching approach as well.
My Hobbies
I enjoy movies, blogging, drawing, cooking, needlework and being involved with my community.
