Experience Summary
I have been teaching Music for 15 years, and ESL for 10 years. My experiences in Japan, where I had oppertunities to teach students from Japan, Peru and Paraguay. As a British citizen, My experience allowed me to expand my linguistic and cultural appreciation of what it means to be in a completely different country than my own and the expectations placed on foreign residents.
In regards to my vocal experience, I began singing competively at the age of 4; In Wales, singing is a strong part of our culture. When I was 17, I was accepted into the National Welsh Youth choir, where we performed nationally and made numerous T.V appearences. My vocal style is best described as ecclectic, and I am very versitile.
During my time in University, I volunteered as a music therapy instructor at a school for special needs children. During this time, I ead activities which allowed every child the oppertunity to express themselves through the medium of dance and music, no matter what their disability may be. This was one of the most rewarding experiences I have ever had.
This experience contributed to my desire to work with people with special needs, and hopefully use my experience to create a strong music therapy program after I graduate from Walden University with my Masters in Mental Health counseling, which will allow me the title of LPCC.
Teaching Style
I use language games which benefit both children and adults in their learnig endeavors. I believe that we learn through 'real life' situations, and through these experiences, the anguage changes from words on a page, to something which will benefit us forever!
My Hobbies
Karaoke, traveing, cooking and learning languages.
