Experience Summary
I have been playing the flute for eleven years and have performed with the North Idaho College Wind Symphony and the Eastern Washington University Symphonic Band as well as competing in solo events such as the Musicfest Northwest Concerto competition. I also have musical background in voice and choir, and have lead the church choir of Our Lady of Guadelupe Church in Spokane. My Educational background is in Music Theory and Education. I have an Associate of Science in Music from North Idaho College and am currently finishing my last year of study for my Bachelors degree in Music Education from Eastern Washington University.
Teaching Style
I believe in a rich curriculum that balances the acquisition of basic technical skills such as scale proficiency and finger exercises with learning musicality through expressive solo pieces. My students will learn good practicing techniques, and how to play well alone and as well as in an ensemble, be that band, orchestra, or with a chamber group or piano.
Other Comments
Students can have their lesson at their school or home or in my valley home. They will be expected to have a working instrument. I can copy some music, but they will also be asked to purchase work books as well.
