Experience Summary
During my year as an AmeriCorps VISTA at the Earth Ethics Institute, a non-profit organization at Miami Dade College, I was responsible for the successful execution of five high-profile programs. I strengthened my ability to multitask and was able to effectively implement each program’s components at their full potential and capabilities. I became accustomed to working independently under strict deadlines and overseeing many service-learning college students who assisted with events. As many of these service-learners regarded me as a role-model, I committed myself to bringing out their full potentials while mentoring them through their college experiences. I was considered the unofficial technological assistant of my workplace due to my proficiency at Microsoft Office and my ability to work at an exceedingly fast pace. In addition to this, my co-workers often request that I overview or write their important documents due to my largely respected communication skills. During my natural resources internship with Hillsborough River State Park I became knowledgeable of the necessary trail maintenance responsibilities, which expanded my proficiency at GPS hand-held devices, plant identification and essential power tools. In depth details of my park ranger experiences are documented in the included recommendation letter. I believe these past experiences in park ranger responsibilities, administrative assistance, and program execution would fulfill the qualifications desired in order to succeed as a tutor.
