About Me

Experience Summary

Hello! My name is Christina, and my chief tutoring interest is in English and related areas such as writing, reading comprehension, grammar and literature. As an English major in college, I found myself frequently editing friends' papers at their bequests. I found the process very satisfying, and I enjoyed being able to assist them in learning new concepts and helping them develop their own writing skills. I also developed a deep interest in literacy during my collegiate studies, and I like the idea of helping students improve their skills through tutoring. In addition to my specialty area in English, I am also very competent at pre-Algebra, Algebra 1 and Algebra 2. I am experienced with test preparation, having taken numerous AP exams, IB exams, the ACT and both the regular SAT and several SAT subject tests. I have excellent study skills and time management skills, which I think I could work with students so that they might develop similar skills. Though I may not have any extensive formal tutoring experience, I am eager to parlay my experiences working with friends into tutoring services. My methods would be determined on a case by case basis. I would want to know what each student's strengths and weaknesses were and what methods he or she thought worked best. From there, I would work with the student to develop a customized strategy to provide the best educational experience possible. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions.
