Experience Summary
I tutored a fourth grader for one school year. I have also tutored at a tutoring center and worked with kindergarten children. Unfortunately I was only there for one month due to scheduling issues with my college classes. I do volunteer with the nursery and young children at my church from time to time and I have experience teaching kids from preschool all the way up to sixth grade (due to volunteering at church).
Teaching Style
I'm fairly laid back. I try to get to know the student first and see how they do with their work on their own and of course helping them out when needed. Occasionally, I'll give my own tests to see how well their test taking skills are and how they do under pressure. Once I get an idea of which area is their weak point, I'll prioritize the subjects so that more time is focused on their weak area whether it be reading, math, writing, or even just test taking skills. I also do a lot of fun logic puzzles to get them thinking and also creative writing projects so that they have a way to express themselves. I think it is very important for children to have a chance to break away from the standardized tests and be allowed to think outside the box starting at a young age.
My Hobbies
I like to sing, act, and write. I've only acted in my senior year of high school and occasionally in elementary school, however, my friends say that I'm full of drama - especially when I get into my British accent. I like being able to just chill and relax. It's hard to chill and relax when you're a college student. I also love nature and old buildings and looking at old artifacts and how simple things used to be. I try to go to nature parks and old buildings as much as I can just to be able to see the beauty that people have forgotten.
Other Comments
I'm fun? If that's not completely obvious.
