Experience Summary
I finished as an undergraduate with a major in economics, and minors in history, philosophy and religion. Next I worked for a year as a political risk analyst for a large multinational company helping them evaluate risks inherent to investing in unfamiliar environments. I found I enjoyed the work, but wanted to get more economics training with the hope of teaching economics. I moved from the for-profit company to their non-profit foundation that sponsored economic research, and spent the next 4 years evaluating grants in the area of economics, public policy, law and political science. I always found that one of my favorite parts of my job was teaching those I supervised about economics and government. Accordingly, during that time, I began a doctoral program in economics on a fellowship. After spending a year in the program, I determined I was not as fond of academia as I initially believed, and went back to foundation work. More recently I used my experience in research management to shift into R&D management work for a different large multinational company.
My Hobbies
Fly Fishing (former guide), Guitar, Banjo, Piano and Duke Basketball.
