Experience Summary
The last five years have seen me working in research and development roles, but teaching math and science has always been a dream of mine and it is time for a career change. Having earned BS and MS degrees in materials engineering, my technical education as well as my career have provided almost daily practice of chemistry, physics, and mathematics. I want to not just teach students something, but also show them how and why it is relevant and useful. Aside from my technical background, I am also a semi-professional jazz guitarist of 20 years experience. I have played with many groups of various genres of music over the years, but jazz has been my primary passion since high school and I currently play with a jazz quintet named Style Points.
Teaching Style
As mentioned above, I want to demonstrate to students the real-world applications of scientific and mathematical principles. This will not only help them learn and master the material, but also to understand and appreciate its relevance and usefulness. I also would love to teach guitar to learners from beginner to 10 years of experience. Will teach any style of music, except classical and flamenco guitar are not my specialties.
