Experience Summary
As an Ivy League student pursuing an MFA in Writing, I was required to teach Writing and English to students during my program. I tutored a high-school student in History at her parents' apartment in Manhattan and also gained invaluable experience from being an English teacher at a lower-income public high-school in Manhattan. Both of my teaching experiences left me feeling rewarded and I developed an urgency and determination to be around kids and teach them what I have learned. I also taught Kindergarten when I was in high-school, which was my first and most unforgettable teaching experience.
Teaching Style
I love teaching children. I believe encouragement is the key to students' success. I like providing my students with time to think and solve problems on their own and think outside the box. I thoroughly enjoy teaching creative writing and commend all my students' work in this subject as a form of encouragement.
