Experience Summary
As a tutor I have had 5 years of experience working with students of many different ages and a variety of backgrounds. I majored in Spanish in college, but I have also taught Latin and English. Because of this specialty in language, I understand well how to teach grammar and good reading, writing, and speaking skills. I, also, received a certificate to teach English as a Second Language, which means that I have a solid foundation of education training to couple with my tutoring experience.
Teaching Style
From my experience I found that the process of working side by side with my student as they strive to figure out a problem or grasp a concept is what I most enjoy about tutoring. As a person I am patient, responsible, and encouraging. I enjoy being creative to help meet my students’ learning styles and needs, and I know how to prioritize learning tasks to help students focus. Also, I recognize that success and progress are individual to a student and their abilities. The focus will be for the student to get the most out of what they are learning, and along the way to acquire a love for learning itself.
