Experience Summary
I have recently completed my masters program in computer science. Previously, I have worked on data migration projects in India for few US based clients, mainly involving Microsoft technology (VB.net, ASP.net and SQL Server). During my graduate work I have developed strong knowledge base around – Object Oriented Concepts, Operating Systems, Database and Scripting Language. As a graduate assistant, I did assist my professor in their research work related to “Virtual Reality”, which was subsequently published in IEEE. It (assistantship) also gave me an opportunity to tutor undergraduate students majoring in computer science (Set theory, OOPS Concepts, .Net framework etc.) and mathematics (Algebra, Calculus and Trigonometry).
Teaching Style
Developing a good practical understanding of the subject matter has been my main motivation for tutoring students. My approach to curriculum based or assignment based teaching may be slightly different (depending upon the understanding of the subject matter by the student), but I believe it should lead to the same result. It involves the use of a structured approach (develop plan of various sessions), enhance the learning experience through practical methods, accessing the progress and getting feedback. Assignment based teaching, is more direct which reinforces the method learned in curriculum and implementing it the correct way.
