Experience Summary
At 14, when I taught my first group of beginning swimmers, everyone knew that teaching was in my blood. Since then I have taught and coached many sports. While working on my MS in Computer Science, I began teaching Math and Computer Science classes, first to college students and eventually to all ages. Currently as a Visiting Teacher for San Diego City Schools, I have had several long-term assignments teaching Math to all levels of students up to and including Pre-Calculus. I have also run several successful workshops in Applied Math, Computer Science, and Technology.
Teaching Style
My teaching style is one of patience and encouragement. There is nothing better than when that light goes off in a child once he or she finally understands how to do a problem. Children learn in different ways and finding the best way for each child is the job of a great teacher. And, I know that everyone does better with the one-to-one contact that a tutor can provide.
