Experience Summary
I have obtained my masters degree in education and now have three years experience teaching math. In particular, I have instructed 7th and 8th grade middle school students as well as 9th – 12th grade high school students. Specific classes include various mathematic disciplines up through Geometry and Trigonometry.
With respects to Spanish, I am Hispanic and grew up in a Spanish speaking household. I took 3 formal years of Spanish in high school and an additional year in college. In the majority of the jobs I had, I was used as translator for Spanish speaking clients. While working for Farmers Insurance, I was tested and compensated an additional salary for speaking the language. I have a total of 36 semester hours of mathematics.
Teaching Style
I don't know that I favor any particular style of teaching, I just try to relate to the student. I find out what he/she likes doing, and I try to find examples and analogies using these things. I also try to find more than one way of explaining things. This seems to ensure that the student is acturally learning processes and not just answering the question.
