Experience Summary
I have been teaching and tutoring math and science to Georgia high school students for the past six years after concluding a career as an international telecommunications executive. I have an undergraduate degree in electrical engineering with a 3.8 grade point average and I scored 2100 on my most recent SAT test. I have tutored and taught all high school math courses from Integrated Math 1 through AP Calculus, plus Physics, Chemistry and Physical Science.
Additionally, I have tutored and taught SAT test taking skills and worked with SPED students in math and science. I currently teach Physics, Chemistry and Integrated Math 4.
Teaching Style
I believe each student has a mix of individual strengths and weaknesses, some obvious and some hidden, that affect their ability to learn. My objective is to illuminate these academic assets and liabilities so that a parent-student-tutor triad can effectively work to amplify the strengths and mute the weaknesses.
My style of teaching is to implement a strategy that focuses on teaching underlying fundamentals, particularly in mathematics. This focus on underlying building blocks not only serves to augment strengths and redress weaknesses in academics, but it is a critical element in optimizing performance on the mathematics portion of the SAT test.
