Experience Summary
I have always had a strong love of English! I enjoyed assisting fellow college students with proofreading and technical writing skills before working as an Advertising Proofreader at the Echo Press in Alexandria, MN. Following that, I completed an internship at the Minneapolis-based magazine Today's Style (no longer in circulation) as a writer. I also volunteered with non-English speaking children through an organization called Hands Across the World (St. Cloud, MN), focusing on age-appropriate English reading and writing skills through 1:1 time as well as group activities.
Teaching Style
I like to cater each session to the individual's specific learning style- what works for one person may not work for the next! However, I have found the cornerstone of excelling at reading is repetition and the key to understanding the rules of grammar is application. I also feel it's so important to incorporate FUN into each session to keep spirits high and learning at a maximum!
