Experience Summary
I began my teaching experience as a teacher assistant at a pre-school program in undergraduate school.While at undergraduate school, I also was asked by a professor to become the tutor for two of his courses. Furthermore, I also voluntarily tutored individuals who were trying to obtain their GED. After undergraduate school, I continued teaching children at a school for children with developmental and physical disabilities. While in graduate school, I was asked to tutor 2 courses. After graduating,I decided to continue voluntarily tutoring at a program out in Oregon. Lastly, I also feel comfortable tutoring some Spanish, as I took 6 years of Spanish in high school and a couple of courses during college.
Teaching Style
I prefer to use teaching techniques that are indiviudalized and strength-based. I enjoy building rapport with students to help identify discover their strengths and personal preferences. I understand that some individuals may absorb knowledge better when using a hands-on approach or perhaps lecturing. I have taken a learning theories course in graduate school, so I am familiar with various learning styles. I am passionate about helping students generate goals and finding success. I feel comfortable working with various populations and look forward to helping you.
