Experience Summary
As an undergraduate student, I dedicated a lot of time to tutoring. I tutored in several subjects i.e. math, chemistry, and biology. I earned a BS in biology by striving to excel in school, staying focused, working hard, and finding that "balance in between". Tutoring was my "balance in between" because it allotted me the opportunities to visually display subjects discussed in class. I have tutored for 3+ years and find it to be quite fulfilling helping students strive to be all they can be.
Teaching Style
As a student, I struggled to learn at a rate that met the standards of teachers, professors, as well as my peers. Therefore, I had to figure out a way to accelerate at a level that was feasible to not only my surroundings but, myself as well. Sometimes it can be difficult to comprehend in a classroom environment because you feel pressured or you may feel as though you are not up to par with the rest of your classmates. My most esteemed methods of tutoring and mentoring are developing the abilities that are already present. Learning my tutee learning habits and adapting and enhancing it. Sometimes all you need is for someone to show you how to interpret and convey information in a sense that they are able to have a better understanding.
