Experience Summary
I attended Niagara University where I obtained my Bachelors of Arts in Early Childhood and Childhood Education as well as my Masters of Science in Literacy. I am New York State certified in Early Childhood and Childhood Education as well as in Literacy Instruction. Throughout my education, I have tutored in many organizations, after-school programs and schools. I am proud to say that I have also worked closely with the Read to Succeed initiative in Buffalo and I have four years of classroom teaching experience. I applied intervention strategies through literacy instruction with struggling readers at the early childhood level and the fourth and fifth grade levels.
Teaching Style
I enjoy the art of teaching. Therefore, I am energetic and try to make it fun. I remember my own experiences in school and what inspired me and I infuse those traits that worked. In my own practice, I pride myself on getting to know my students and forming a teaching style to match them as learners. After all, we are all unique and we come into the learning process with different goals, different knowledge, different experience and different feelings. My priority is to get to know my students by taking inventory in what they enjoy doing, what their aspirations are, and what their positive and negative experiences have been in their education thus far. I use this information to form a teaching style that we are both comfortable with.
