Experience Summary
I am a former professional journalist who decided to return to the classroom to share what I have learned. I was an honor student at every level, graduating from the University of Pittsburgh Magna Cum Laude in 1994 with a major in Communications and Rhetoric. I also graduated from Iona College's MST-Adolescent English program with honors this past spring. In addition to my student teaching, I have worked as a substitute teacher in the South Orangetown and Nyack School Districts. I bring practical experience as well as classroom training to my work as an educator.
Teaching Style
I am a patient, professional teacher who will find a way to help any student with a combination of planning and the ability to adapt to a young person's needs. I believe that it is important to focus on engaging the student and finding ways to help them connect their lessons to their own lives. Motivation is incredibly important, especially for a student who may be struggling. They often need to know how information applies to them. They also need to know that they can succeed if they are willing to put in the work and try new approaches.
