Experience Summary
As a graduate of Hofstra University, I have received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology, as well as a dual degree in Childhood Education and Early Childhood Education. I have acquired both the New York State Early Childhood and Childhood Teaching Certifications (birth through grade six). My experience is not limited to my studies, as my related field work with children across a spectrum of experiences has provided me with an enlightening grasp of the profession. I have taught within various types of classroom settings and have experience teaching mathematics, English language arts, science, social studies, and art lessons. I have taught mathematics Academic Intervention Services (AIS) lessons to students of various grades.
Teaching Style
From my teaching experiences, I have learned that I enjoy educating, as well as learning from, students of various ages. From my courses and classroom experiences, I have learned that each student may benefit from various types of learning such as visual, auditory, kinesthetic, and/or a combination of learning styles. I have learned how to gain student interest and engagement through various methods of motivation, such as technology, or other student interests. In order to be a successful teacher/tutor, I believe that it is necessary to get to know each student’s academic level as well as interests in order to develop adequate lessons.
