Experience Summary
I am a 12-year teaching veteran with a variety of experiences under my belt. While my formal training was in elementary education, my special education certification afforded me the opportunity to teach at the high school level for 6 years. I also have 6 years’ experience in the elementary classroom, and three of those years were spent teaching children with (some severe) emotional impairments. My most recent experience was teaching (general education) kindergarten where I enjoy the rapid growth children experience at that stage. Their excitement for both written and oral language is so rewarding!
Teaching Style
My vast amount of experience includes work with a very diverse group of people including those from a variety of socio-economic backgrounds, ethnicities, disabilities, and grade levels. In each situation, I have demonstrated the utmost level of professionalism, enthusiasm, and flexibility. I have respect for all students and show a great amount of patience and understanding in situations when learning does not come easily. I believe in providing students with a safe and encouraging learning environment. I believe in asking thought-provoking questions that promote student responsibility for solving their own “problems.”
