Experience Summary
I have had various experiences from Pre-K through the middle school age, with a strong concentration in Language Arts at the primary level. I am Elementary School certified K-8 and I am Highly Qualified in LAL. After three years in a self-contained elementary classroom in Hudson County I took a childcare leave of absence and have yet to return full time to work. I have received my degree in Teaching/Education from Fairleigh Dickinson University in Teaneck, NJ. I have a passion for Writing, Language Arts and Reading Recovery. I have completed many courses in Literacy, including the studies of Fountas and Pinnell. I have been trained in The Teacher’s College Reading and Writing Workshops.
Teaching Style
I am a firm believer that every student has a unique way of learning. Every student is different and therefore no student should be taught the same. In my classroom I intertwine the works of Howard Gardner's Multiple Intelligence with Dewey's Constructivism to create an interactive learning environment. It is a goal of mine to allow each student to show their ability in the best manner that they can. Through the philosophy I teach by, I feel I reach each student to address their own unique abilities and skills. During the course of my studies I have come across a quote that as a teacher I live by, "If a child can't learn the way we teach, maybe we should teach the way they learn."
