Experience Summary
I have been teaching the past 11 years in various urban settings. I have taught kindergarten for 4 years, first grade for 4 years, and second grade for 3 years. I gained experience working with the Accelerated Reader and the Accelerated Math programs. I was trained in Responsive Classroom, Guided Reading, as well as the Teacher’s College Reading and Writing Workshop. I have also been trained in the SIOP model of teaching language learners. I hope you find my leadership, personality, knowledge, and expertise to be an asset.
Teaching Style
For the past 5 years I have taken on the challenge of implementing the Responsive Classroom curriculum. This curriculum was a great fit for my teaching style. This approach to teaching creates safe, challenging, and fun learning environments. I believe in the importance of engaging students in their learning and fostering qualities such as responsibility, cooperation, and respect. I am passionate about growing strong students in my classroom that are also bright, caring, capable individuals. I have seen these strategies foster wonderful growth and learning within my students.
