Experience Summary
I am a certified teacher k-12 in visual arts and have been teaching for the last ten years. I have an AA -Aeronautics, BA-Graphic Design, M.Ed.Art and MDiv degree. I have been tasked with improving the reading and writing skills of my students 9th through 12th grade. The majority of children are left brain thinkers and need to be challenged to utilize the right brain to evaluate, analyze, interpret, and understand the meaning of concepts and ideas. Higher level depth of knowledge thinking must employ the elements of the right brain: imagination, creativity, intuition, faith, and innovation, which are all necessary elements in problem solving.
Teaching Style
My learning style is best related to maximizing cooperation between the child and the parent, child and the tutor, tutor and parent, and the sending agency sponsoring the tutor. Why should I learn this? - is an important question for everyone. What is the positive consequence for learning versus the negative consequence for not learning? Can learning be a rewarding experience? What are the many positive incentives for learning versus the many negative consequences for not learning? Can the tutor help the student answer these questions? Certainly.
