Experience Summary
By working closely with other professionals, I have been able to put into practice many of the educational theories and figure out how they work best with my style of teaching and the students with whom I work. I have worked at a school for students with emotional, learning, and behavioral needs and developed positive relationships with each student. I also did a research study to improve behavior, reduce anxiety and stress and enhance academic performance with the use of biofeedback software. Last year, I worked as a Special Education teacher where I was able to take advantage of many professional development opportunties. I was trained in Orton-Gillingham, which I used as part of a reading program that improve reading scores immensely.
Teaching Style
I love being around children and watching them be successful and enjoy their school adventure. To do this, I provide opportunities for the students to create their own learning and guide them as they discover the enriching experience that learning can bring them. I treasure my time with students and develop relationships that create a desire to work hard and allows students to feel comfortable taking risks in a safe environment. I hold myself accountable for my students and expect the same in return. By getting the students into a mentality of giving the extra degree of effort, students will work together to smash state expectations and conquer any tests that come their way in school and in life.
