Experience Summary
As an honors graduate of a selective liberal arts college, I have had the opportunity to develop my critical thinking and writing skills in an environment that allowed students to take an active role in their learning. During my undergraduate career, I was selected to serve as a Peer Tutor at the Vassar Writing Center, working one-on-one with students at every stage of the writing process. In college, I also had the opportunity to tutor 2nd graders at local elementary schools. Additionally, I have worked with high school students applying to college, providing feedback on essays and polishing resumes, and I have worked at Kumon Learning Centers tutoring elementary and middle school students in math, reading and study skills.
Teaching Style
My teaching style is very interactive. I enjoy communicating with students at every step of the learning process and believe that it is important that every student takes an active interest in their learning. I believe that it is important to recognize that each person works at their own pace and is encouraged along the way. I strive to provide a nurturing learning environment and be an approachable tutor, mentor and role model for my students.
