Experience Summary
I have a stellar academic record, having received a BS Degree from the University of Pittsburgh where I graduated summa cum laude. I completed 3 semesters of calculus. I have always excelled in all areas of mathematics. I have taught math courses, SAT and GRE preparation courses, and bridge courses for the Community College of Allegheny county. Although I have not taught advanced math classes, I have tutored fellow students in the past. I have never earned less than an A in any college calculus or statistics class. I also have directed an Adult Education Program in which I also served as a basic literacy instructor. I currently teach computer skills to adults in my position as casemanager at Fulton County Government.
Teaching Style
I love teaching and helping people understand subjects, especially math. Rather than focus on formulas and rote knowledge, I strive to help the student actually understand the rationale behind the formulas so that they can relate the knowledge to the real world. My teaching style is one of facilitation. I emphasize student-centered learning where I provide learning situations and activities that are designed to help the student process and apply the knowledge. Having students think for themselves is the best way to reinforce and integrate a subject into the student's knowledge base.
