Experience Summary
I have a degree in English from Syracuse University in New York. I have 15 years of tutoring and teaching experience in English and Spanish. My previous work positions include: teaching Spanish at the University of Colorado (CU) in Boulder, tutoring English and Spanish at CU-Boulder, and tutoring English and Spanish at Front Range Community College in Longmont, Colorado. In addition to free-lance tutoring in Colorado, I spent 1 year teaching ESL and English in Seoul, Korea. My work experience ranges from proofreading and editing to journalism and translation (Spanish & French). I have been visiting Latin America off and on for the last 18 years.
Teaching Style
I provide good mental discipline in my tutoring along with a comfortable working environment. My lessons blend structure and sensitivity to the student’s individual learning style. I often assist students with specific tasks such as organizing and completing their school work, yet I am open to creative teaching approaches. I give firm and intelligent direction, helping students to accomplish their goals. I keep my “eye on the ball” when the student‘s attention strays away from the lesson. I am patient, focused, and very experienced.
