Experience Summary
I am a last term senior at Broward College that will be earning a Bachelor’s in Science in Secondary Mathematics Education (grades 6-12) on December 17, 2010. I have been tutoring students from grades 6-12 in mathematics for the last seven years. I have worked with students attending both Broward County Public Schools and private schools. I previously tutored at the JFK Tutoring Center and the Broward College Title V Program. The rest of my tutoring work was done privately.
Teaching Style
I am a firm believer that all children can be good at math. I believe that the key to their success is having a teacher that will take the time to identify their individual learning style and apply it to their lesson planning. Being one on one with a student in a tutoring setting is fantastic because it allows me to completely adapt the lesson to that one individual child. I also believe that math needs to be made as hands-on as possible and interactive as possible. I try to make each lesson as interesting and exciting as possible. Through my experience, I have found that most students learn more through the constructivist approach, most often when they are discovering things themselves.
