Experience Summary
I am a Georgia Certified Science Teacher with approximately fourteen years teaching experience in Georgia. I have taught Physical Science, Environmental Science, Genetics, Chemistry, Biology and Oceanography at the High School level and Life Science to Middle School students. I have prepared diverse students for all of the middle-high school standardized tests and have received satisfactory results.
I have mostly taught students who needed external motivation and support since this was not available in their respective home environments. As an educator I believe all students can learn and I am always willing to find the appropriate strategies to help each one learn effectively.
Teaching Style
My current teaching style is adaptable to the learning styles of the students that I am teaching. In general, if I am teaching a certain topic, I will first ask students a few questions on the topic in order to identify the level of their familiarity. This enable the student(s) to build on transferable skills as well as recover knowledge stored in memory.
After that,I will give an overview of the topic. For example, if my topic is atom, students will be told the word "atom" is associated with elements along with other facts. Next, I would give the students oral/written questions to ascertain their principal learning styles in order to modify my teaching style for optimum learning.
