Experience Summary
During my experience at Brigham Young University, I was able to teach, tutor, and mentor other students in the Physics department. My responsiblities included assisting with homework and lab experiments. Not only was I required to understand and apply complex mathematics to help the students solve the problems, I was also expected learn effective teaching methods. These skills, along with my Bachelors Degree in Applied Physics, and a Minor in Mathematics, make me feel qualified to tutor complex math such as Calculus and Differential Equations.
Teaching Style
I understand that each person is different in learning styles. I also believe that as a teacher, I must adapt and be proficient in multiple teaching styles, in order to accomodate all different students. Also, based on my experience as a student, I value positive reinforcement more than anything in the learning process. I have found that focusing on a students strengths and encouraging them can quickly lead to them overcoming their weaknesses.
