Experience Summary
I graduated Magna cum Laude with Bachelors degree in Elementary Education and a Resource Minor in 1990. I taught special eduction K-3 one year and K-6 for three other years where I restructured the special education program to bring it up to research based best practices. I supervised nine aids, three assigned to my classroom and six to individual students. I designed curriculum aligned with student IEP goals, collaborated with regular education teachers and related service providers, and monitored student progress. I have only two classes before earning my Master's Degree in Educational technology where I designed technology instructional units.
Teaching Style
I believe that each student has strengths and weaknesses and it is my job as a teacher to find these and help students expand on the strengths while overcoming the weaknesses.Each student has a unique learning style so I need to teach things in ways that the student can grasp. I especially love helping students who experience difficulty learning and watching a student light up when he/she finally understands a concept. I believe that learning should not just be an accumulation of facts, but teach people to think through real problems and come up with viable solutions to these problems. By individualizing student instruction all students realize their dreams and succeed in life.
