Experience Summary
I have graduated with a PhD in Chemical Engineering, which has given me a thorough understanding of advanced math and science, especially in chemistry. As a graduate student, I spent 9 semesters as a teaching assistant, where I have done things such as grading homework, quizzes and exams; teaching lectures and labs; and assisting students outside the classroom with any issues they have with the curriculum. I also spent a semester volunteer tutoring for the local high school in areas of math and science.
Teaching Style
I believe in working in an interactive environment with the students, keeping them involved and attentive. I feel that any subject can be learned when broken down into simple terms and personally related in a way that each student can understand. Although I can be around while a student is working through problems, I believe that teaching the methods and techniques to solve them are much more important than simply giving them the solutions.
