Experience Summary
I have worked with students of all levels and educational needs. With my 4 children and 4 grandchildren, I have elementary, middle school and high school experience. As a teacher at a Job Corps for 7 years, I had the experience of working with non-traditional students. At Job Corps, I taught reading, developed writing skills/creative writing curriculum, and tutored students in math, health and GED prep. As a self-employed consultant for the past 6 years, I have assisted adults in various higher education programs and computer software training.
Teaching Style
My teaching style is very flexible. I believe that a learning/tutoring program must be structured to the individual student's needs and build upon his/her strengths. Both the student and the tutor must work as a team to determine the goals of the program, set the work guidelines, establish milestones, and structure the style of the sessions. By working as a team, goals can be reached and the experience can be extremely positive and satisfying. Not only will the student have subject-matter success, but he/she will also develop skills and tools specific to his/her natural learning style. These skills and tools can be used in all future educational endeavors.
